This merge vote did not disappoint.
There's a lot to break down, so I will try my best to organize everything that happened this round. First, I'm going to break down by the key players of this round.
Melody
Melody was the lead organizer for the vote, in my opinion. She didn't do all of the carrying, but she was the lynch pin in all of the alliance groups. He voice was always heard and considered when planning the next move. She corralled the right voters and was the person pushing and giving all information on both sides. Melody worked with Charlene, Will, Austin, Lauren and Jermin to be the 6 votes that controlled who was going home.
Austin
We saw a little bit of chaos Austin this round. Austin was a big role in that everyone wanted his vote this round. Unfortunately, it was a lot to manage for him and he had to make his side known. Hannah came to him and told him she wanted Gleason out. Austin took it upon himself to tell everyone this plan, and it leaked back to Gleason (who didn't believe Austin). Austin even confronted Hannah at tribal about it. Lauren also (finally) told Austin about her advantage: the extra vote. Austin also told everyone about this, so everyone is fully aware about her advantage. It depends how Austin manages his relationships after the next round, but he definitely shook things up. Austin was also the reason that the Hannah vote changed last minute to Kelsey. He alluded to her getting votes, then she suggested she had an idol. This is when the vote changed.
Ben
Ben was the bridge between Melody + her alliance and the OG Pemba. Ben knew where Melody's side was putting their vote early (on Hannah, re: targeting Gleason and her being a huge threat). Melody shared the entire plan with Ben to get Hannah out, but she didn't include him on the last minute switch to Kelsey, due to being worried Hannah has an idol. Ben was blindsided by the Kelsey vote, which seemed to have him shook after tribal.
Charlene
Charlene is beginning to be a pot-stirrer. She was talking to Robbie and he said he wanted Lauren out. Charlene went straight to Lauren and gave her that tea, and Robbie started to see that he couldn't trust Charlene anymore... but why would she be loyal? Robbie blindsided her the last two rounds, so it's about time Charlene moved the target onto Robbie.
Robbie
Robbie had the mess with Charlene, but luckily for him, he's a very honest and straight forward player. Lauren and Robbie had some back and forth, after she confronted him. Ultimately, he apologized, explained himself and Lauren promised him that he wouldn't be a target. Robbie didn't believe her (for some good reason), but he earned some trust with Lauren after the vote when his name wasn't written down at all. Robbie was also the one who talked with Ben to get Ben/Gleason/Robbie/Kelsey to vote Hannah, assuming it would be a 10-1 vote. This was honestly a great move, although Hannah didn't go home. Now he's written down one of his ally's names and needs to make ground with Hannah.
Hannah
Tough round for Hannah. She made the decision to go after Gleason and tell OG Unguja about her plan (via Will). They were all on board for a couple hours, until they became very suspicious. On one side, Hannah has little incentive to jump sides right now, so the group was skeptical of that. Not to mention, everyone is intimidated by Hannah's high level playing and past success in these games. They didn't know how to trust her. Her best move was faking an idol, which buys her some time. She's not that close with anyone, but a lot of players showed their hands this round, and I think she will fall into the background. Her game went from a bad position, to a decent position. If she survives this round, I could see her making a push to final 5.
Lauren
Lauren continues to impress me. She's not a savvy player like Melody, but she knows her strengths. She's very likable and highly social. She's tight with almost everyone in the game, even though half of them are suspicious of her intentions. Lauren had Charlene tell her almost immediately that Robbie was targeting her, and she got that target off her back and got in the good graces of Robbie. She's also earned some points with Gleason, who she continues to have a great friendship with. She was on the right side of the vote AND she managed to keep her extra vote. Honestly, Lauren is another player riding the middle and I think she could make a move to secure a top 5 finish, if she keeps her cool.
With all of that out of the way, here's the sequence of events that occurred within 24 hours.
1. Hannah targets Gleason.
2. Austin and Will confirm with everyone that she's targeting Gleason. Austin tells Gleason he's being targeted by Hannah.
3. Gleason is, once again, convinced he is the main target.
4. Robbie targets Lauren
5. Charlene tells Lauren and she immediately confronts Robbie in such a bold way.
Robbie: How did your day go?
I feel like you've been off with me
Lauren: Funny you mention that Robbie. My day was great until I heard a name thrown out.
Robbie: I'm assuming yours?
Lauren: It's also funny you would assume that, considering it was your mouth that said it.
Oooooop
6. Austin pushes to get Hannah out, and the rest of his alliance slowly talk it over and agree. Robbie and his alliance decide to target Charlene.
7. Melody tells Ben the plan to get Hannah out. Ben mulls it over, then eventually tells Robbie/Gleason/Kelsey and they all agree to join in on Hannah.
8. Austin talks to Hannah and scares her into bluffing she has an idol.
9. The group meets up and decides to flush whatever Hannah has and flip the vote to Kelsey - someone that is a solid vote for OG Pemba and a close ally to Ben.
10. Tribal, Austin is confronted by Gleason to confirm the fact that Hannah approached him. Austin confirms and Hannah eats popcorn, convinced she's leaving.
11. Kelsey is voted out with a 6-4-1 vote (Kelsey - Hannah - Gleason). Hannah voted Gleason due to her inactivity and complacency that she's being voted out.
Either way, they got rid of an OG Pemba and the tables keep turning. The next round, they've been broken up into two tribes, voting out two people. This should be interesting...
Tribes:
A - Charlene, Jermin, Austin, Lauren, Gleason. Best position: Lauren. Worst position: Gleason
B - Robbie, Hannah, Will, Ben, Melody. Best position: Ben? Idk. Worst position: Will? Maybe Hannah? I'd say Melody, but she has two idols and an advantage to leave tribal that expires this round. She won't be going anywhere... but if she does, jfc.
